Just as I was starting to get decent at modeling faces, I thought it would be neat to make a model of myself (IRL me, not robot me) and try to capture the aesthetics of the Clone Wars character models. Like with the sharp, angular faces and such.
Turns out that's kind of a hard style to emulate, and my first attempt came out looking more like a smooth, fairly generic Disney model. Which, to be clear, I did not hate at all. It *was* a decent looking human face that *did* vaguely resemble my human appearance. But it absolutely fell short of capturing the Clone Wars style I was trying to go for.
Eventually I decided to have another go at the idea. It occurred to me that the main reason the Clone Wars characters looked the way they did was because they were based on Genndy Tartakovsky's 2D character designs. I wondered if trying to draw myself in *that* style first might make it easier to work into a more accurate 3D design.
I think it helped...a bit. The main difficulty I faced was figuring out how to get hard edges on a subdivided model. Took a few attempts and a lot of adjustments, but I think I finally got it as close to what I wanted as it's going to get at this point.
